I graduated from college and knew that I wanted to travel before getting out into the workforce. I had planned on going to Zanzibar, Africa—but circumstances changed and an all expenses paid position open up in Hong Kong! I told God, “Okay, I’ll go, but only for 3 months!” At this time, I had no desire to go to Asia, but within the first two weeks of staying in Hong Kong, I knew I couldn’t stay for less than 6 months.
My duties included various positions; accounting for a drug rehab center, taking care of a Filipina pastor whom had a stroke, and photographing the country and it’s people.
Hong Kong was purchased back from Great Britain in 1997, and is an interesting mix of Chinese and British culture. You can see this range anywhere from food and fashion to their judicial system.
