Engagement Photography in Dallas-Fort Worth, TX

First off: Congratulations! Getting engaged to be married is one of the most exciting times in a person’s life, so we are very happy for you. We also understand that all of the planning involved can be stressful — but I want to see to it that photography is one less thing you need to worry about!

After the proposal, one of the first items of business to take care of is your engagement photography. Why are these important? Many couples choose to publicize their happy news with an announcement in the newspaper — and they are also commonly used on wedding or save-the-date invitations. They also make for wonderful keepsakes, marking the happiness and excitement between the time of your proposal to the big day.

If you’re planning to use the same photographer for the engagement as well as the wedding, this is an excellent way to test out their skills! At Convey Studios, we’ll get to know you both and will then work with you to come up with the perfect plan for where and when to take your photos. Having built a repertoire, you wedding pictures will likely come out that much better!

Our vision is to convey the best of you, your way. We do much more than just show up and start taking pictures! Your photos will look different than any others you may see on social media or even this website. You’re unique, so your pictures should be too!

So if you’re looking into engagement photography in DFW, we’d love to meet you and talk about making your engagement photos magical! call, text, email, or contact us to get started.

Taking the perfect engagement photo

Every couple is unique, so the setting and style of their engagement photos should be as well! One example: We were lucky enough to be involved in a surprise proposal in Hawaii, which was two months in the making. We took Jessica out to a breathtaking area under the guise of taking photos of just her. Little did she know, her boyfriend, Awais, was hiding nearby. When our photographer, Sesha, uttered the code word, “Fantastico,” Awais came out of hiding, got down on one knee and gave Jessica the surprise of her life. We were so thrilled to capture it for them!

Of course, many engagement photos aren’t taken right when the proposal happens; they often involve careful planning and props. (Don’t ask us how we transported a white piano to the outdoors in the snow, but we did and the results were lovely!)

A few tips that you might want to keep in mind as you plan your photo shoot:

  • There’s no reason to stay indoors for this occasion. Many of our favorite shots are the ones taken outside, with nature serving as the perfect backdrop.
  • Consider going to places that are meaningful to you as a couple. The restaurant where you had your first date, the park where you enjoyed a romantic picnic — anything that will keep the celebration of your love going would be ideal for photos.
  • What to wear? It’s always a good idea to avoid patterns or florals; solid colors are the way to go in every case, whether your pictures will be formal or casual. You might want to also avoid dressing like twins. Coordinating colors are fine!
  • Avoid over-accessorizing: Keep your jewelry to a minimum to avoid unnecessary distractions. This is also a better way to show off the ring!
